Bear Cave Campground–Thousand Trails–Buchanan Michigan

last Thursday, we arrived at Bear Cave Campground

this is a very nice Thousand Trails Park

very well set up for big rigs. . .

We arrived the day the park opened. . .

so I’ can’t speak to any of the facilities. . .
I do know the pool is being resurfaced before the summer season starts. . .

Neil, the manager, newly transferred from Timothy Lakes TT in Pennsylvania

seems to be on top of things. . .so I’m sure it will all be wonderful. . .

The rigs you see parked to the left are in the 50 amp FHU sites. . .

the rigs you see parked on the right seem to be annuals or permanents. . .not sure!

we enjoyed walks down to and along the river. . .

There is an actual CAVE here at the Bear Cave Campground. . .

it looks pretty cool and is very historical from what I read. . .but. . .

we are here at the very beginning of the season,

so the gift shop has not been open. . .maybe next time!

We found plenty to do within an hours drive. . .

Walmart and Lowe’s are in Niles MI. . . about 30 minutes away. . .

and a really great. . .really busy Meat Market right in Buchanan. . .

I’ve had 4G Verizon service the entire time. . .

but have not checked out the park’s wifi.  .  .

We did the following day trips while we were parked here:

Toured the Notre Dame University Campus in South Bend Indiana

Photographed the Chicago Skyline across Lake Michigan at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore

and saw Lake Michigan for the first time from Warren Dunes State Park

We’ve enjoyed our week at Bear Cave Campground,

Tomorrow we move to the Elkhart Fairgrounds in Goshen Indiana

for our very first RV Rally - The Escapees Escapade . . .
