My goal is to personally photograph all 50 State Capitol Buildings, so with that in mind we set off for
Downtown Denver this morning. . .oops, we forgot about it being Cinco de Mayo. . .traffic was bad. . .crowds were thick, but we persevered and got this awesome shot of . . .
Colorado State Capitol
In addition to wanting a photo of the Capitol. . .I also love city skylines. . .so I researched the
best place to get a good shot of the Denver skyline. . .City Park. . .so that’s where we went.
Standing on the back landing of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, we also got the
beautiful panorama of the Rocky Mountains with the Capitol Dome in the foreground. . .
My favorite skyline shot. . .
and a close up. . .there was a MS run at the park today. . .
and as a bonus. . .a few shots for my Birding Life List. . .
this Snowy Egret was having a bad hair day. . .
the Double Crested Cormorant were plentiful. . .on the shore
in the water. . .
and nesting.
gave my Peterson Field Guide a workout researching this one. . .
it’s a Black Crowned Night Heron. . .
They were also in nesting mode. . .
and of course. . .Canada Geese. . .I know, I know. . .they are everywhere,
and they are loud and messy. . .but I think they are beautiful. . .
and I want to see how many places I can get pics of them in. . .
It was a great day. . .tomorrow we head to Estes Park to start our newest project. . .
Updates soon from our summer home. . .
Tons of luck with getting all those 50 state capitols. Have you been to Hawaii and Alaska already?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos by the way.
Thanks Marsha. . .yes, we already have HI and AK. . .and most of the middle of the country. . .just need to run both coasts. . .slow & steady!

ReplyDeleteThanks Jeannie. . .we are slowly adding state capitols to our collection. . .I need to get my album organized, so I'll know which ones I need. . .
DeleteVery cool to see the nesting night heron!
ReplyDeleteCan't seem to find a way to follow your blog. :(
Thanks Judy. . .we had never seen that type of heron. . .had no clue how to research it. . .
DeleteI've added the email subscribe box. . .or, if you use a reader, which I'm sure you do. . .you can just subscribe to posts via which ever reader you may use. . .thanks for following!
Wow these are some fantastic pictures. They are amazing. I’m actually planning a trip to Estes Park here in a few weeks to camp in the RV. I do love Denver, but sometimes I have to get away from the chaos of a busy work week and traffic. Estes Park is a place that my friends and I have gone to every year for the past 3 years. Last year on our trip there, I brought along the Tailgater that I bought from Dish, and we watched the football game while I barbequed. Let me tell you, my RV was the popular place in the RV Park. When I got back to work at Dish, I planned another trip to Estes Park, and now that I think about it, that time is about here! For now, I’ll enjoy Denver’s scenery!
ReplyDeleteThanks Damon. . .we think Denver is a beautiful city. . .didn't get to spend near enough time there as we were on our way to our volunteer gig in Estes Park. . .loved it though!
