Chicago–Gangster Tours and Hop On/Hop Off Tours

I am actually posting this blog a week late,
but have back dated it so it is in the correct order in my travel journal. . .
We took so many pics in Chicago. . .
it has taken me an entire week to get them sorted. . .yikes!

TUESDAY, JULY 29
We love bus tours, especially in a busy city like Chicago. . .
those folks know where they are going, and we don’t. . .
so, a 3 day, Hop On/Hop Off trolley was good plan for us. . .

The first day Jordan arrived, we just got on the Tour,
and rode it all the way around. . .not sure that was a good idea. . .
it was a really long tour. . .but we got to see all the
Chicago Architecture and Buildings. . .
got a good feel for the city, and what we wanted to return and see more of. . .

I can’t imagine that all you guys in blogland will want to look at
all the pics. . .but I am including them as part of our Travel Journal. . .

Chicago - Double Decker City Tour

WEDNESDAY, JULY 30
ah. . .a new day. . .everyone’s all rested up. . .
once again, we’ll park the Jeep at the Navy Pier Garage,
Chicago Trolley Company - $45 for a three day pass - great tour
hop on the trolley. . .not a double decker this time,
but still the same company, same concept. . .
Magnificent Mile - Chicago
jump off at the next stop, and walk the Magnificent Mile,
which is somewhat akin to Fifth Ave in NYC. . .
lots of fancy shops, and stops. . .
Chicago Architecture
some beautiful architecture. . .
Magnificent Mile
and a photo op with my boy. . .
Rock-n-Roll McDonalds - two story McDonalds - Chicago - built in the style of the Original McDonalds in CaliforniaRock-n-Roll McDonalds - two story McDonalds - Chicago - built in the style of the Original McDonalds in California
let’s grab a quick snack at Rock n Roll – two story McDonalds. . .
The Untouchables Gangster TourThe Untouchables Gangster Tour
before we get on the bus for our
Untouchables Gangster Tour. . .
The Untouchables Gangster Tour
oh my word. . .the “best tour EVER!”
If you are in Chicago. . .do NOT miss it. . .so worth it!
Organized, informative. . .HILARIOUS!
Skydeck Chicago - 96th floor Sears Tower (Willis Tower) - Chicago
okay. . .next stop. . .the SKYDECK on the 96th floor of the Sears Tower (Willis Tower). . .
Skydeck - Chicago - Glass Window Ledges - 96th floor Sears Tower (Willis Tower) - Chicago
where Dave has decided he’s going to step out onto one of these
glass boxes that extend four feet out from the building. . .
yeah. . .you go ahead big boy. . .I’ll stay right here and wait for ya!
but alas. . .the lines were too long, and he didn’t want to wait!
There really were a lot of people up there. . .
reminded me of our adventure at the St Louis Arch. . .
I call it the “cattle car” sensation. . .
Chicago PizzaChicago Pizza
it is now 5P. . .we’re not gonna make it to Pizza UNO. . .
where I really wanted Jordan to experience Chicago Pizza. . .
because the buses stop running at 5, and we are 13 blocks away. . .
We’re lucky to catch our trolley that will take us to close to where “The Bean”
is at Millenium Park. . .so we will make do with Giordano’s Downtown.
Since we had their “pie” in the suburbs the other day, we know it’s good. . .
Jordan loved it. . .so yaa. . .SCORE!
The Bean - Cloudscape - Chicago - Millenium Park
onward to “The Bean”. . .
The Bean - Cloudscape - Chicago - Millenium ParkThe Bean - Cloudscape - Chicago - Millenium Park
by this time, we’ve been going for ten hours. . .
walking. . . taking tours. . .riding trolley’s. . .exploring. . .
just ate a big supper. . .
still gotta “walk” back to Navy Pier where the Jeep is. . .
The Bean - Cloudscape - Chicago - Millenium Park
one more pic. . .just one more!
Ah. . .our work here is done. . .
Wrigley Field  and the Cubs Game tomorrow. . .
Chicago Architectural Tour - The Seadog
my only regret. . .and the only thing I think we really, really missed out on,
was taking the “Architectural Cruise” down the Chicago River. . .
I had heard and read that it is just spectacular. . .
and the lady at our RV Park said this is the company to take it with. . .
we just flat ran out of time. . .what a blast we had!

See you at Wrigley. . .later!
Janice and Dave
