We Made it through the Holiday Weekend–and an Add On to the Remodel

I told you we were headed to the country to

hunker down until the Fourth of July weekend was over

we landed at Hager’s Hilly Haven RV Park in Cascade Wisconsin. . .

a great little Passport America park located on Lake Ellen. . .

We loved our spot right at the top of the hill. . .

fabulous 50 amp. . .full hookups. . .yes!

After only 30 amp, water and electric only,

and honey wagon pump outs,

we were excited to be able to run the microwave

and the a/c at the same time. . .

take a NON navy shower. . .

and just in general. . .live the good life for a week. . .yes!

Although we had nothing planned,

we did drive over to visit the Kohler Design Center and Museum. . .

my pics do not do it justice, so I won’t even bother to post them. . .

It was a fun place. . .and I could see if you were building a house

or planning a remodel, where you could get many, many fabulous ideas. . .


We did our shopping in Sheboygan. . .

and Sheboygan Falls was a very pretty little town

where we were able to attend worship service on Sunday. . .

It was a great week. . .

we feel refreshed and recharged

after our busy month in Door County. . .

about a month ago I showed you the small remodel

we did in the kitchen to get rid of a horrid mirror and

make use of the wasted space it was taking up. . .

                                       we accept the fact that we have no ability to

actually build a cabinet door. . .

but wanted something to use for a cover until

we make it back to Houston where our

friend’s son can custom build a door to match everything. . .

Here’s our temporary fix. . .an artist canvas. . .

fastened to the frame with a piano hinge. . .works great

and will serve the purpose for the time being. . .yaaaa!

I’ll work my artist magic and

match the bottom to the rest of the road. . .

but not today!  LOL. . .

RV Projects–a small Remodel

our intention really was to take it easy over the weekend,

but there are always projects on the To Do List. . .

and taking down this horrible mirror

and replacing it with a spice cabinet

has moved to the top of the list. . .

No matter how many times it’s cleaned,

as soon as I cook again, it looks exactly as you can see in the this pic. . .

drives me crazeeeee. . .

duct tape is ready in the bottom right corner. . .

used it on the one panel. . .but it still allowed shards of glass to fly,

so, for the next panel, we covered it in a sheet of contact paper

from top to bottom. . .ahhh. . .much better!


That dude was taped and glued on  something fierce. . .

it wasn’t going to fall off the wall. . .that’s for sure!

here’s the beginning of the spice cabinet. . .

it will be completely enclosed with a frame,

and a door as soon as we get close enough

to a big box store to get supplies. . .

no worries. . .all of this will be hidden behind a door. . .

I will now have all my daily use cooking supplies,

spices, oils, vinegars, in one place. . .

no more searching through the cabinet, trying to remember

where things are. . .yaaa!

Will post pics of the finished project in a couple of weeks. . .

Full Time RV Living–I am a Remodeler

We’ve been looking at Motor Homes, used motor homes. . .

It doesn’t matter to me what the inside looks like, as far as carpet color,

couch color, dining room chair covers, etc. . .’cause I’m probably going

to change it all anyway. . .and make it into my home. . .my way!

When we were looking at the fifth wheel we’ve lived in for the past nine years,

one of my comments about the bedroom was. . .something will need to be done in here. . .

and it was, almost immediately. . .even though the rig had never been lived in.

I take that back. . .the very first thing I did, was take out the lazy susan under the sink,

in order to have a place for the trash can. . .

Trust me. . .unless you do some gaudy, theme based, horrendous remodel. . .

you are seriously NOT going to affect the value. . .believe me, it depreciated

considerably when you hooked it up, and pulled off the lot. . .unlike real estate used to be,

these things are most certainly NOT an appreciating asset.

Now, I’ve never painted the inside of one. . .although I’m certainly considering it.

Most everything I’ve ever done could be undone if need be. . .
