Full Time RV Travel–Picnic Table Reminder

2006-01-02 Blog 001
Once again I’m reminded why the picnic table needs a cover before we eat. . .
I have personally witnessed dogs being bathed and groomed up there. . .just saying!

Full Time RV Living–A Weekend With the Grand

morgan swimming
this is our middle grand daughter, Morgan or Mo Mo as we affectionately call her. . .

She’s gracing us with her presence for the weekend. . .and because there is a teacher in service day,
we even get an extra day to spend with her. . .so she will go home on Monday. . .

When they were all younger, and could all fit on one queen size mattress. . .
they would ALL come and stay. . .now that they each need their own mattress. . .
we hafta have them one at a time. . .space being at a premium and all that. . .LOL!

Lots to do. . .fishing. . .picking up pecans. . .swimming. . .washing the rig. . .
she doesn’t know about that yet. . .I better go get rested up!

Full Time RV Travel–Exploring a Really Great General Store

ICM General Store (4)
We’ve passed this sign for the Industrial Country Market a few times. . .
but didn’t really know what it was. . .
thinking it was a Farmer’s Market, we headed over there today. . .
ICM General Store (1)
Nope. . .not a Farmer’s Market. . .there’s no way I can really explain what it was. . .
but it was a very, very cool place. . .part art gallery. . .
this section is called RE-ART . .dumpster diving art. . .
something unique and unusual in each and every piece. . .
ICM General Store (5)
part General Store. . .they had all sorts of cool stuff. . .at really, really reasonable prices!
Wouldn’t this be a great sunshade to take to the beach. . .
the cabana, two chairs, and a table for only $52.71. . .
all prices end in 71. . .’cause they are on HWY 71. . .get it?
ICM General Store (3)
Completely off the grid, they generate all their own electricity. . .
collect rainwater for most of their water use. . .have composting toilets onsite. . .
hydroponic gardens, greenhouses, and many other cool features I can’t even remember. . .
ICM General Store (2)
If you check out their FaceBook Page there is a photo of a baby in one of those huge lily pads. . .
just unbelievable, and beautiful. . .

I know I’m just doing a horrible job of trying to describe it. . .perhaps checking out this article will help. . .
all I know is, it was so great. . .my grand daughter is visiting this weekend. . .
I’m taking her over there to explore. . .she is going to love it!

It’s right around the corner from the Thousand Trails Park in Columbus. . .
so all you RV’ers should check it out. . .
Purple Passion Flower
I leave you with this glorious Purple Passion Flower. . .

More great blogs about ICM. . .enjoy!

Full Time RV Travel–Touring Smithville TX

ah. . .exercise. . .it’s so very, very difficult to force ourselves out the door for a walk. . .walking around the RV park is soooo boring (whiney voice). . .but we know we gotta get out and do something, especially since we’re not willing to give up eating the good stuff. . .

so. . .what to do, what to do?  In Colorado, we did a lot of hiking, but hey, hiking’s not near as exciting in the flat lands of Texas. . .however. . .walking tours around little country towns are always very interesting. . .

2005-12-31 001

so yesterday, we headed out to Smithville. . .

Historic Down Town Smithville TX
with a pretty little historic down town. . .

Historic Down Town Smithville TX
fabulous architecture on many of the buildings. . .(more inside and outside pics of this building)
don’tcha think last year’s Christmas lights still strung on everything add a great decorative touch?

Hope Floats

but you may remember Smithville best as the setting for the movie Hope Floats. . .
along with other various movie titles. . .

2012-10-03 018Yellow Flower?
and of course, no walk is complete with seeing beautiful flowers. . .I love them!

Full Time RV Travel–Is it a Resort, Park, or Campground. . .and How Do You Tell the Difference?

RV Resorts, RV Parks, RV Campgrounds… What’s The Difference?

article from RV-Road Trips ~ The Fun Times Guide

I tend to agree with the statement in the article above, where the writer says, some of the parks didn’t get the memo. . .

2012-04-30 Mountaindale RV Resort - Colorado Springs CO

We have stayed in some lovely, fabulous places. . .

2012-04-29 Beauty and the Beast Colorado Spring Co(2) (1)
and Passport America. . .no less. . .just wonderful
2012-05-01 Golden Terrace RV Park - Golden CO (1)_thumb[1]
to a parking lot, where we needed to measure to make sure we could open the slide. . .

We’ve driven in to places, and driven right back out, when they wanted to park us
in an open field, ankle deep in water.  I’m sure it was fine normally. . .but seriously. . .
electrocution when we plugged in came to mind. . .LOL!

We all have stories. . .what are some of yours. . .and what do you consider a resort?

Full Time RV Living - Beautiful Fall Weather in Texas

Not sure how long it will last. . .but it has been gorgeous weather the past few days. . .even the rain has been great!
blog pics
There are a few patches of what I am calling goldenrod left. . .
Butterflies
which the butterflies, or maybe moths, are loving. . .
blog pics
The pecan trees are loaded. . .so I decided to go for a walk and gather some. . .seems like it may be a couple more weeks before they really start falling. . .glad we are still going to be here. . .

Six Point - Thousand Trails RV Park
Mr Majestic Six Point posed for me. . .isn’t he gorgeous. . .sure hope he makes it through hunting season. . .
Six Point - Thousand Trails RV Park

and I’m hoping perhaps one of the manly men might tell me what he is doing here. . .well actually, I have a fairly good idea that he himself is on the hunt. . .or maybe the prowl. . .but not entirely sure. . .ha ha. . .

Full Time RV Living–Decorating the Rig for Christmas?

Do you decorate the rig for Christmas. . .and if you do. . .where do you keep all that stuff?

bells

All of our storage bays are filled with everyday living items. . .or at least items that are necessary to living full time in the RV when you don’t have an off premise storage anywhere. . .even the pass through bay, although empty while we are parked, is completely taken up on travel days with the satellite dish, the water filter and miscellaneous other items of necessity!

When I see folks who are all decorated up for holidays. . .Halloween. . . Thanksgiving. . . Christmas. . .trees, lights, yard ornaments. . .I think they must at least have a storage building somewhere. . .

When the boys got married. . .we gave them all of their collected Christmas Memories to take with them. . .and sold the rest in the estate sale. . .bah humbug. . .LOL!

What about you. . .have you scaled back. . .or do you still go all out?

It’s coming up. . .right around the corner. . .decorations already popping up in the stores. . .just curious?
