here’s the entire reason for our stopover in Del Rio. . .
beautiful friends Wayne and Liz from our hometown
of Santa Fe TX now pastor a church,
and make Del Rio their home. . .
We just left from over there, and let me tell you,
we had the best meal we’ve had in a long, long time. . .
roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole,
the required blackeyed peas and cabbage. . .
and banana pudding deliciousness for dessert. . .
What a wonderful evening. . .thanks guys!
we wanted to explore Lake Amistead National Preserve while we are this close. . .
but I am telling you. . .it is just bitter cold. . .
I don’t know how folks in the North stand it for months on end. . .
we did drive out to Rough Canyon,
I’m sure it is just lovely when the lake is not in drought condition,
and the sun is shining. . .
I would actually love to spend a day on one of those house boats. . .
the bluffs are rather spectacular. . .
and I’m sure even more impressive from the water. . .
We head out toward Big Bend in the morning. . .
and have been told we will lose all cell phone service
once we cross the Pecos River. . .
so, if you don’t hear from us for a few days. . .that’s why!
Dave may need to post several of his funnies on FaceBook
to tide y’all over, so you guys won’t haf’ta miss him so much. . .LOL!
Maybe we’ll get lucky and our Wilson Booster will actually help us out. . .we’ll see!
’til next time,
Janice and Dave
