these guys were all up in the business yesterday. . .
can you see the second one all the way up in there. . .
and a third one is laying up underneath it all. . .
can you see the second one all the way up in there. . .
and a third one is laying up underneath it all. . .
it’s actually a fairly large piece of equipment they are replacing. . .
I watched them toting the old one. . . it took two of them to carry it.
I can’t tell you the technical lingo. . .
but in addition to getting it installed into this tight space,
they also need to have it aligned perfectly
to time the fuel pump with the cylinders. . .
(just repeating what I was told by my hubby)
(as an addendum - our mechanic Kent Cox -
in Houston, has been following along with all our trauma drama -
and has informed me the part above is actually the
injector pump - which, lo and behold,
is actually what it says on our paperwork - thanks Kent!
no wonder it cost a small fortune. . .yikes)
I’m pretty sure all was going well. . .
the lead technician kept assuring us they would be done. . .
until. . .
a fuel line broke. . .UGH!
and of course this is not a common engine,
so the parts are not in stock. . .
I admit to having a wee bit of a meltdown
at this announcement. . .not quite to tears. . .but almost.
however, I’ve had a discussion with myself,
that this is to be expected when this is the first time
these parts have ever been taken loose on a 14 year old engine. . .
our friend on FaceBook said this sounded like a cha ching moment. . .
I told him the entire process was beginning to feel like
the National Debt Clock, where the numbers go up every second. . .
OH GOODNESS!
Here we are back in the hotel room through the weekend.
We are having our first downside moment of owning a motorhome . . .
the one where everyone tells you how you will be homeless. . .
YUP. . .not the first time though. . .
We once had the fifth wheel in the shop for slide issues. . .
We were homeless that week too. . .
as our RV Friend John Roberts said. . .this too shall pass. . .
and another RV friend, Jan Waggoner, suggested a day trip to Las Cruces NM,
about 45 minutes away. . .sounds like a good plan.
Think we’ll head that direction. . .
should at least provide a distraction.
see you there,
Janice and Dave
