they had the coach running when Dave walked in the shop today. . .
I could tell from his face, as he walked back out,
that he was NOT a happy camper. . .uh oh. . .
”It’s missing” he said. . .meaning the engine had a miss in it,
and it’s boiling black smoke out the tail pipe.. .
Neither of those things could possibly be a good sign. . .Oh LORD, Oh LORD. . .
The Lead Mechanic said three of the injectors were only firing at 50%. . .
and if we were going to replace three, we may as well replace them all. . .
but. . .he’s also saying they are on the line with the factory
to insure that everything was connected correctly. . .
Oh Lord. . .at this point. . .it’s beginning to seem as
though this repair bill may go into the 5 digit range. . .
seriously. . .I think I’m going to have a coronary. . .
Dave goes back in to see if there’s any word. . .
and thanks be to the Lord. . .two of the lines leading from the
injection pump to the injectors were crossed. . .
Once that was corrected. . .all was well. . .
HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF. . .
by about 4P they were reconnecting all the essential air filters (breathers)
whatever they are called. . .finishing up the oil change. . .
and had it ready for a test drive. . .
horrible pic. . .but trust me. . .this was a beautiful sight,
to see it rolling past on the auxiliary road. . .
It is now about 7:20. . .we are parked in the shop’s
RV hook up area. . .I’ve cooked supper. . .
it was nice to have a skillet available to do that in. . .LOL!
and life is good. . .again. . .so thankful!
knowing nothing would be ready with the coach before noon
we decided to do one last little tourist adventure. . .
Scenic Drive – my friend Marsha who says there’s no way
she would ever do the tram, would like this little drive. . .
there are some pretty great views of downtown El Paso
and Cuidad Juarez from up there. . .
however, every day there is a brown smog haze that hangs
over the mountains on the Mexico side of the river. . .
a view of the International Bridge. . .
didn’t have the big camera, so this was as close as I could get
I tried to crop this pic so you could see it. . .
but really, you need to just come see for yourself. . .
the International Border Fence runs right behind
Downtown El Paso. . .its cutting across about the middle of the pic. . .
I can see it because I know where it is. . .but I doubt you can tell. . .
It’s something folks in this part of the country deal with on a daily basis. . .
but I will tell you. . .
these are the most service oriented folks
we have ever seen in all of our travels. . .
horrible drivers. . .but great service at all the restaurants and stores. . .
Heading out to Deming New Mexico in the morning. . .
see you there,
Janice and Dave
