what a difference a day makes. . .

OR SO WE THOUGHT!

2015-01-03 2015-01-03 001 001

isn’t this gorgeous?
blue skies. . .purple mountains in the distance. . .sunshine. . .and dry roads. . .

heading West on 90. . .looking at what we believe are the Glass Mountains. . .

2015-01-03 2015-01-03 001 006

an hour out we make a quick stop in Marathon,
which is where we WERE scheduled to spend last night. . .
diesel is $3.69. . .a quick check shows it to only be $3.29 in Alpine. . .
we’re still in great shape fuel wise. . .we’ll just wait. . .it’s only 35 miles or so. . .

ahhhh. . .life is good. . .

until this!

BAM!  12 to 15 miles out of Alpine. . .
driving along. . .one minute everything still looking the same. . .

2015-01-03 2015-01-03 002 002

the next. . .WINTER WONDERLAND. . .and not in a good way. . .
NO travel advisories. . .NO weather advisories. . .

Dave checked before we left Sanderson this morning. . .
showed 40* and sunshine all the way to Terlingua. . .

wow. . .so a good 8 miles of this before we reached Alpine. . .
the WEIRDEST travel day we have ever had. . .EVER!

get into Alpine. . .thank the Lord. . .GUESS WHAT? ? ?
Power is out all over town. . .so folks are lined up at the pumps,
waiting for them to come back on. . .

ahhhhh.. . BIG CHANGE OF PLANS. . .AGAIN!

2015-01-03 2015-01-03 002 007

here we are. . .all settled in at the
Lost Alaskan RV Park in Alpine TX

for AT LEAST A WEEK. . .

or until we can determine that
THIS MESS IS OVER. . .GOODNESS!

We have CANCELED our reservation in Terlingua,
and will do a day trip or two into Big Bend NP. . .

there are always reasons when things happen,
and after two delays. . .perhaps it is not meant to be for this trip.

2015-01-03 2015-01-03 003 001

the park. . .well actually, the entire town of Alpine, is without power at the moment. . .
but we are good. . .the sunshine is beaming through the windshield warming things up. . .
and the view, of what we think are the Davis Mountains, is certainly splendid. . .

God is good all the time. . .and we are thankful to be safe and warm. . .

’til next time,
Janice and Dave
