Undeterred by the fact of having the Nebraska Fairgrounds moved
we discovered the Iowa State Fairgrounds also has
RV Parking. . .$25 a night – 50A FHU. ..close to everything
yippee. . .we’ll take it. . .but let’s only pay for two nights just in case. . .
it’s on a little bit of a grade. ..but we just run the back wheels up
on a couple of leveling blocks. . .it’s all good. . .
except. . .it had recently rained. . .the ground was a wee bit softer
than we anticipated. . .so the leveling blocks kinda sank a little bit overnight. . .
so now we’re kinda sloping a bit . . .what to do. . .what to do?
Do we move the coach up, add some more blocks, re-level. . .
or just cope for one more night. . .yep. . .you guessed it. . .
it was easy getting to the bedroom. . .you just run down hill. . .LOL!
JK. . .it wasn’t THAT bad. . .
the neighbors next door were parked the opposite direction. . .
they had their rear end completely on the ground in order to get level. . .
awww well. . .it worked. . .(he looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if I could take this pic)
all in the name of blog fodder. . .what can I say?
They have 2000 RV spaces within the fairgrounds. . .mostly 30A. . .water and electric only. . .
the lady checking me in said during the fair, they also utilize two pastures,
and park 2000 additional rigs there (dry camping). . .can you imagine?
as is usual, we are here to see the Iowa State Capitol. . .
and it is gorgeous. . .
outside as well as inside
of course we are always drawn to the art gallery. . .
the lower piece is called Westward. . .
but the upper pieces are just glorious. . .
they are not paintings. . .they are mosaic. . .
millions of pieces of mosaic tile. . .and there is no grout. . .
you simply must go and stand it front of it. . .and touch it. . .and see it with your own eyes. . .wow!
on the way to see the mosaics we pass this sign posted outside the
Gallery of the House Chamber. . .check the last line. . .what era do you think that hails from?
I remember flash bulbs that popped and exploded sort of. . .do you?
and then, the other thing you should go see with your own eyes,
is the Iowa State Capitol Law Library. . .just spectacular. . .
so tickled to get this reflection. . .is it beautiful or what?
Amazing how much difference having a camera makes. . .right?
See you next time at Lake McBride State Park. . .
we are in need of a little nature. . .
‘til then,
Janice and Dave
please enjoy more pics of the State Capitol here. . .
and in our album
